Counseling Services

At Ninoshenh Counseling, we give space for the trauma we all carry. We walk with people as they explore their unhealed wounds, especially the unknown or unexpected ones that often come up when caregiving for children. We share our time and respect the space for any of the wounds that may come to light.  We are Mashkiki (medicine).

Ninoshenh Counseling is supported by the care and specialty of Aunties.

Miigwech (Thank you) for taking the time to explore our website.

Medicine Wheel

The medicine wheel teaches us how to have balance. Trauma teaches us how to disconnect from that balance to survive. With practice we can restore those connections. We are Mashkiki (medicine).

“All that we are is our story. From the moment we are born to the time we continue on our spirit journey, we are involved in the creation of the story of our time here. It is what we arrive with. It is all we leave behind…

What comes to matter then is the creation of the best possible story we can while we’re here; you, me, us, together. When we can do that and we take the time to share those stories with each other, we get bigger inside, we see each other, we recognize our kinship – we change the world, one story at a time…”

The Hibernating Bear of Childhood Trauma Virtual Workshop

The Hibernating Bear of Childhood Trauma Virtual Workshop

The hibernating mukwa (bear) of childhood trauma is about exploring the theory that children create a bear to survive trauma. As adults, this bear goes into hibernation and still walks with us. It is an Indigenous worldview that has been adapted from Gabor Mate's "The Stupid Friend".
An Indigenous Approach to Mama Trauma Virtual Workshop

An Indigenous Approach to Mama Trauma Virtual Workshop

Niimama's (Mama's) have been parenting in isolation for a long time. There was isolation well before the current world turn of events from the past few years. This workshop explores this and also what impact traumas and isolation has on Mama's and their families. What is our role as workers or members of this Mama's village. And in what ways we can support healing and connection for these Mama's.
